Eyelash Extensions in San Antonio

What are Eyelash Extensions?

What are Eyelash extensions? Individual lashes or eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness,  fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. The extensions may be made from several materials including mink, synthetic, or human hair. The main method of applying the extensions is by using an adhesive glue to individually sticking them to the eyelashes one-by-one. This is to prevent the eyelashes from sticking together. False eyelashes and  eyelash extensions are not the same. Come visit us for the best Eyelash Extensions in San Antonio!

How long dose it take to apply Eyelash Extensions?

Applying a full set of lashes takes about three hours, and can be  maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every three to four  weeks. A half set of lashes are an economical alternative to achieve a  similarly dramatic effect, applied as filler to thicken natural lashes,  or applied outward from the eye for a specialized look.

Everyone has different lashes, and depending on the condition of your own natural lashes, is how we will determine what length or thickness to chose from. (This is to ensure that your own lashes remain healthy.)

How often do I need to have a touch up?

Lash extensions last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks. Since each lash extension is attached to a single eyelash, they will fall out naturally along with the natural growth cycle of each lash. I suggest light lash maintenance every three to four weeks to maintain a full look.

Will your natural lash get damaged due to lash extensions?

The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not, if applied correctly and taken care of properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes. If lashes are applied properly and to each individual lash, they will not fall out.

After Care

Eyelash Extension After Care

During the initial 24 hours after your appointment:

Do Not get your lashed wet. This affects the strength of the adhesive bond. Do Not use the cleanser (distilled water and Johnson and Johnson shampoo mixture) given to you at your appointment for 24 hours. After the first day, Daily cleansing is a must (THIS ENSURES THE HEALTH OF YOUR LASHES).

Be sure to wait 10 minutes after wetting extensions before brushing through them, since the hair follicle is susceptible to breakage when wet.

Avoid steam, hot showers, facials, saunas, and swimming pools.

Do Not use spa, tanning bed, or overexert yourself. The adhesive bond needs time to fully cure without corrupting interactions. Spray tanning is allowed, since eyes are shielded.

Taking Care of your Eyelash Extensions:

Avoid rubbing your eyes, petting or pulling on your lash extensions. Certain seasons may cause more allergies and shedding and may require more frequent maintenance appointments during these times.

Do Not use and eyelash curler while wearing lash extensions. This can destroy the curl of your extensions.

Proper Hygiene is one of the most important steps in maintaining your lash extensions. Please wash your lashes daily with an eyelash extension safe cleanser.

All products around the eyes should be oil-free. Any oil based product (mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eye cream, medications, ointments, salve, concealer, foundation, etc.) near the eye area will break down the adhesive.

Use caution when applying creams and moisturizers around the eye area. Apply these products one hour before bed time. Blot away excess moisture before closing your eyes for the night.

I recommend sleeping on your back if possible. A small (travel, neck, etc.) pillow helps to prevent sleeping on lashes.

Avoid waterproof eye makeup. This will make cleansing the lashes extremely difficult and may cause excess shedding.

After showering please wait 10 minutes for your extensions to dry before brushing. Brush them gently with a clean and dry mascara wand.

Wearing Mascara is unnecessary when having lash extensions. The wearing of mascara can break down adhesive from previous applications, and interferes with adhesive bond of next appointment. Increasing the need for more frequent in fills.

If you have teary eyes please rinse away tears with distilled water to maintain retention.

I recommend regular Fill appointments every 2-4 weeks to maintain desired fullness. Please arrive without eye makeup, which will interfere with proper bonding and may cause retention issues.

If you have any concerns or questions about unusual, symptoms, please contact us immediately or consult a physician.
